January 21, 2010 CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF ADVENTURE! A Message from Adventure Aquarium's Executive Director  Wow! The proverbial saying, "Time flies when you are having fun" could not be more true for us here at Adventure Aquarium. It has been an amazing journey since we first opened on May 25, 2005, and here we are today "Celebrating 5 Years of Adventure." I thought completing an 86,000 square-foot expansion, renovating the existing 110,000 square-foot location, hiring all new leadership and cast and launching a brand new aquarium experience was exciting, daunting and nerve racking enough! However, that relentless pursuit of excellence has not wavered from those very first construction days. I am amazed by our entire leadership teams' focus and drive to achieve all of our goals over the past five years and each year, my appreciation for the entire Adventure Aquarium team continues to grow. Since we first opened in 2005, we have built an outstanding business, delivered world-class zoological exhibits and provided amazing Guest Experience programs, positioning Adventure Aquarium as a community treasure right here on the Camden Waterfront. Over five short years, we've renovated seven exhibit areas; constructed our 4D Theater and Currents Ballroom; designed and implemented a comprehensive way-finding system and visitors guide; created and produced three signature festival celebrations (Button's Birthday Bash, Shark Week, Christmas Celebration) and launched countless other smaller projects. We also not only survived, but thrived, throughout an acquisition process into the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation (HFE) Family in 2008, and retained 100 percent of our cast throughout the process. This was certainly a stressful time, but the cast rallied and embraced the change better than I could have ever imagined. Ultimately, I am thrilled to report that HFE has exceeded our expectations as a parent company, and they will certainly lead the way for great success in the future. 2010 will certainly not be a year of rest, as we are building a new entrance lobby elevator, renovating our 4D Theater entrance, relighting the dome on the top of the building, and are constructing an exciting new exhibit to launch in May 2010. All of these successes and accomplishments would not be possible if it were not for the cast members and their family support, our corporate partners, our Passport holders and of course, the millions of guests who have visited Adventure Aquarium over the years.
