CELEBRATE "WORLD OCEAN'S DAY" AT ADVENTURE AQUARIUM
Join the cast and crew at Adventure Aquarium on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 for a World Ocean's Day celebration like no other! With scores of area conservationists, a presentation by the Aquarium's seals, and the chance to take the World Ocean's Day pledge, guests are sure to have a blast while learning about the many ways they can make a positive change to the environment and to start a legacy of ocean protection.
"World Ocean's Day was created by the World Ocean Network to help change the way people view the oceans," said Jen Warholak, who Chairs Adventure Aquarium's Fins for the Future Committee, a group of Adventure Aquarium cast members and partners who aim to provide real opportunities for people to help protect Mother Earth and her many inhabitants. "The goal of Adventure Aquarium's World Ocean's Day celebration is to create a fun, engaging day for our guests that also informs them about our oceans, the beautiful creatures and habitats found in within them, and how our actions ultimately affect them."
The day long event will feature fun displays, activities and give-aways presented by various conservation-minded organizations. Learn which seafood items are ocean-friendly or how to eliminate wasteful junk mail; discover New Jersey's reefs and wetlands; meet volunteer divers and learn about the dive equipment and methods of care for the aquarium's animals; and watch as the Aquarium's seals present a conservation message to guests. And, all guests will have the opportunity to take the World Ocean's Day Pledge!
Some of the organizations scheduled to participate in Adventure Aquarium's World Oceans Day Celebration include: AmeriCorps VISTA (Water Protection Division); Atlantic County Utilities Authority; Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center; Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve; Marine Mammal Stranding Center; New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences; New Jersey Reefers Club; New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program; Pinelands Preservation Alliance; Pompeston Creek Watershed Association; Shark Savers, and more.
